Earlier this year, through the MPA Charitable foundation, we were pleased to support the Henley-in-Arden Guild Hall Roof Appeal 2023/24 with a donation of £1,980.
We’ve recently received a letter of thanks, sharing the news that the Henley Guild Hall Trust Roof Appeal team has reached its ambitious target of £120,000 through donations alone, in under 12 months.
In a letter of thanks to sponsors, John Latham Honorary Burgess and Trustee on behalf of the Henley Guild Hall Trust Roof Appeal shared: “I have pleasure and thanking you for your generous donations towards our appeal for £120,000 for the renewal of our much-loved Guild Hall. Having been the crowning centrepiece of our beautiful High Street for 600 years it is important that, on our watch, we shoulder our responsibility to maintain it future generations even another 600 years.
“It is obvious from the response of our community, residents and business that this is a challenge you have taken to your hearts. At this point, August 2024, we’ve almost reached our target and are both proud and amazed that this has been achieved almost entirely by you, without any help from the major grant giving bodies who failed to support our applications. I feel it confirms more than anything that the people of Henley have a really special affinity for our beautiful town and that the bond of responsibility we share for maintaining it as a tangible. Thank you for your generosity.”
MPA’s donation will go towards sponsoring three square meters of new tiles for the roof. Ours, along with donations from individuals, community groups and businesses will go towards helping save the iconic and much-loved local building from falling into disrepair.
Phil McGovern, Director at MPA, said: “Henley-in Arden is a beautiful place to live and work and we’re so pleased that the Henley-in-Arden Appeal team has bought the local community together to reach its target to repair the roof and restore the Guild Hall to the jewel in the crown of our historic High Street for years to come.”
Fundraising events have included a Jazz concert, an event by Arts4 All event, a Classic Car Show, a special event at Lodders Barn and a “Raise the Roof” Concert.
