On the 31st July, The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) introduced Consumer Duty. The overarching principle of the Consumer Duty is that a firm must act to deliver good outcomes for clients and put clients’ needs first. MPA strongly believe that this is something the company’s whole ethos is built around, and it’s reflected in its strapline; Inform, Educate, Inspire. As an appointed representative of MPA, SWP adheres to the same professional standards and practices and shares this commitment to putting our clients first.

Earlier in the summer MPA’s Trainee Compliance Officer Samantha Davies prepared a story on MPA’s website about what Consumer Duty means for you. Please click here for the full story.

We are now pleased to let you know that MPA has joined the Consumer Duty Alliance. The Alliance is a ‘not for profit’ professional body that aims to support the personal finance sector in the adoption and implementation of the FCA’s Consumer Duty Requirements through the alliance of like-minded individuals and firms.

Joining the Consumer Duty Alliance signifies MPA and SWP’s commitment to delivering the best possible client outcomes and supporting other IFAs to do the same. The requirements surrounding Consumer Duty are complex, so by working with others we can ensure the implementation of the new Duty is successful for MPA, SWP and our clients. We can also share our successes and experience with other firms. We hope that by working collaboratively we will raise standards in the industry.
